3 Dental Procedures To Improve Your Smile

Having a smile you're proud of may be the key to helping you feel the best about yourself. Being self-confident is an ideal way to live your life and having healthy teeth is a good place to start. If you weren't born with the teeth you want, you can make significant alterations to help you achieve your goal. By knowing the various dental procedures that are available to you, you can work towards having an improved smile.

Procedure #1: Dental Bonding

One effective way to alter the appearance of your teeth is with dental bonding. This can usually be completed by your dentist in only one visit. The actual process will involve your cosmetic dentist filling in a gap that is between your teeth with the best matching composite material to your existing teeth.

The average cost of dental bonding is $90-$450 per tooth, and it's possible that your dental insurance could pay 50%-80% of this cost for you. However, be sure to contact your insurer in advance to avoid any unwanted surprises.

Procedure #2: Veneers

If you have crooked teeth or have suffered a severe injury to your teeth, you may want to consider getting dental veneers. This is typically a two-step process that will be completed by your dental provider.

Veneers are made of a thin porcelain material and are placed on top of your existing teeth. The average thickness of these is .5 millimeters. In some cases, it may be necessary to shave some off of your teeth for veneers to fit properly.

The average cost of veneers is $500-$1,100, and this is not often paid by your dental insurer unless you can prove the damage done to your teeth was due to an accident.

Procedure #3: Crowns

Dental crowns are often used to restore severely decayed teeth. However, there are some instances when this procedure is specifically used for cosmetic purposes. For instance, if you have a front tooth that has been worn down or even knocked out because of an accident, you may want to consider getting a crown.

This process can usually be completed in only two visits to your dentist, and the average price is $500-$1,100 per tooth.

The benefits of having a smile that you are proud of are numerous. Be sure to schedule your appointment today with a cosmetic dentist (such as one from Dansville Family Dental Care) in your area to help you select the perfect dental procedure for you!
